Baklava – A taste of history

Baklava, a traditional pastry treat from the Ottoman Empire, has become synonymous with the Middle East and dates back to the Ottoman Empire. Baklava, a dessert popular throughout the Middle East, originated in Turkey in the 11th century and is thought to have been invented by nomadic Turks. The Turkish word “yuvgha,” which translates as “pleated or folded bread,” is thought to be a crucial piece of evidence for the origin of Baklava.
